Wander along Mudgee’s cultural trail
Not a wine lover? Mudgee is SO much more than its wineries.
It also has a rich arts & culture scene - let’s dive in…
Stay
Art lovers will adore Cavolo - a Bliss Stays’ property. Owned by an art dealer, the property is decorated with some incredible contemporary works. Take in the collection as you settle into your Mudgee stay.
Do
Mudgee Sculpture Walk - pop on your walking shoes and head down to Lawson Park to walk the Mudgee Sculpture Trail. This collection of works, many purchased from previous Sculptures in the Garden events, is well-worth a look. Kids can bike or scoot along the path, while you take in all the artworks. We love Jack Thompson - a giant steel kangaroo, based on the famous Cleo centrefold of Australian actor Jack Thompson.
Mudgee Arts Precinct - the cultural centre of the Mudgee region. Home to rotating exhibitions & events celebrating the region’s art scene.
Art & Craft Railway Gallery - located at Mudgee’s former railway station, the space showcases more than 1000 locally produced art & design works.
Makers’ Market - held on the first Sunday of the month at Robertson Park, the Makers’ Market welcomes Mudgee’s best artisans & producers.
The Drip Compound - we love the Drip Compound for a fun paint & sip session. Pick a canvas, grab some paint & a glass of wine, & get creative.
The Book Nest - Mudgee’s only independent bookshop. Stock up on the latest titles & browse their collection of books by the region’s authors.
Eat & drink
Alby & Esthers - this Mudgee icon is set in a quaint cobblestone courtyard - it’s like being in Paris in the middle of Mudgee! Alby’s is also home to rotating art exhibitions by local artists - browse the collection with a coffee in-hand. All works are available for purchase.
Rosby Wine & Art Gallery - wine tasting with a side of art? Yes please! Head to Rosby for great local wine, set amid a collection of sculptures and their art gallery. Don’t miss their famous burnt basque cheesecake (it’s to DIE for) & mark your calendar for their annual Sculptures in the Garden event, held each October.
791 Estate - a lovely local winery, with a collection of works by local contemporary artist Elle Gahan on display.
